Happy New Moon in Virgo!! ♍🌾🌑
This new moon is happening today, Monday, September 2 at 6:56pm PT.
And because the sign of Virgo represents discernment and refining, this new moon is a great time to set intentions around creating more clarity on what’s working in your life, and what isn’t.
You’ll find support for clearing out closets or removing habits from your everyday life that aren’t serving your health.
And on a spiritual level, Virgo is a healer who serves the spirit—so it can also be a great time for setting intentions to refine or bring in new spiritual practices, while letting go of the practices, beliefs, habits, etc. that are not in service of healing or your highest good.
So good, right?
From an astrological perspective, I’ll also add that there are several aspects happening with this new moon that can support big changes. So I encourage you to take a moment to be with yourself, with spirit, to set your new moon intention—the cosmos is giving abundant support for deep transformation right now!✨
The Suit of Cups
As I mentioned in my introduction to the Minor Arcana tarot cards, I’ll be sharing an overview of each of the suits first—and this moon cycle, we’re focusing on Cups.
The suit of Cups is associated with the element of water. The cards in this suit often revolve around affairs of the heart, our emotional life, our relationship to ourselves and others, intuition, imagination, and our dreams.
When a cup card shows up in a reading, we are often being asked to move in the direction of healing the heart and listening to our intuition. We are encouraged in this suit to tune into the heart’s wisdom, which can be challenging or feel like unchartered territory for many of us as our culture favors the logic of the mind over counsel of intuition, dreams, and emotions.
But the suit of cups reminds us of the importance of tuning into this innate wisdom from our own depths. For example, our emotions have crucial messages for our wellbeing and are not meant to be stuffed down.
Yet who of us hasn’t suppressed grief or anger in attempts to evade any discomfort those emotions bring. But avoiding emotions disconnects us from our hearts until eventually we become more and more numb to the life and love that surround us, and deaf to the wisest parts of our being.
The cups also ask us to be more receptive…to everything. Whether it’s those challenging emotions, love, adventures into the unknown, intuition, messages from dreams, synchronicities, miracles, and the beauty and wonder of life itself.
The journey through the suit of cups shows a progression of the healing power of vulnerability, connecting with the heart to find the path for your highest good, and celebrating love, intuitive wisdom, and our connection to each other and to spirit.
